EAF RECIPIENT ORLANDO GONZALES FEATURED IN WARMBLOODS TODAY

Orlando credits the amazing good work of the EAF for actually keeping him alive.“Seriously, I wouldn’t be alive today if it weren’t for them. I can’t say enough good things about them.” Faced with skyrocketing medical bills and many more to come with specialists and high insurance costs, the EAF came to Orlando’s rescue.

“All I could do was watch my horses and read mountains of horse magazines,” recounts Orlando. “I happened to see a small advertisement about this organization,” he continues. “They took care of all those worries.” Orlando is very serious now. “It’s why I have a life like this now. Because of the good work they do, riders like me can heal and mend the emotional wounds as well as the physical ones.”

IN MEMORIAM

Debbie Miller Atkinson, an EAF Recipient, passed away peacefully, on September 30, 2008, at Vanderbilt Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee. Debbie was injured during an eventing accident two years ago, and suffered a severe spinal cord injury. She was receiving benefits from EAF since her injury until the time of her passing.  Her courage and strength as well as her determination to be sure her life had meaning and purpose was an inspiration to all of those who had the privilege of knowing her through her difficult struggle to live.

It was Debbie's wish to have donations made in her memory to the Equestrian Aid Foundation.

Please visit Debbie's Homepage or Dressage Daily for additional information.
